"GET" と "BECOME" の単純な違い

ネイティブではない人たちは、get と becomeの使い方を間違える事が多い。このことは、訳した場合、両方とも「なる」という役になり、日本人には特に問題となります。

どちらの単語も「何かを始める」という意味で使われるので、最初はその違いに少し混乱するかもしれませんが、そこには単純なルールがあります。

たいていの人は、辞書やトランスレーターで新しい単語を調べます。良い取りかかりですが、単語の一面しか知ることができません。単語を正しく使うためには、コノテーションとコロケーションを知る必要があります。

CONNOTATION Used in common speech to refer to a person. Used in common speech to refer to an animal or other species; used formally in statistical reports, etc.
