Sometimes students do not set their display name on Skype in a teacher-friendly way. It could be a different name, in Japanese or just whatever their Skype username is.
You can easily change a display name on Skype to something that makes more sense for you with either of the two following methods:.
- Just open a Skype chat (double click their username) and click the "edit" link on the user's Skype name (shown in the image below). You can then enter whatever name you choose.
- You can also right click the username on your Skype contact list and choose "Rename".
Just be cautious and professional. If you share your screen with a student, they might seen the name you can given them.
