Site and Teams profile presentation & work emails

How we present ourselves online is integral to our success as a polished and professional service. Every little thing counts, from the environment you teach from, your presentation in the lesson and spelling and punctuation in lesson records and messages. This also extends to your profile on our site and Teams and email addresses. Your privacy is essential, so we don't want you to use full names or private email addresses. You can if you want to though!

Site profiles

You only need to use your first name or the name you wish to be called on The English Farm. Your full name is private. We don't want anyone doxxed. When you apply for work, candidates create their account with a username that is not appropriate (it's their full name—Matthew Radich—or some nickname—Muddy Farmer). If your username is not your preferred name (e.g. you sign up with the username "Matthew Radich" but want to be known around here as "Matt") then we need to update your username on the site (you cannot do it yourself). Email Nadim (nadim@theenglishfarm.com) or message him on Teams with a link to your current profile and he will take care of this for you. If someone else already uses that name, you might have to go by an alias. Nadim will help you with that.

Teams profiles

On Teams, make sure you:

  1. Use the same profile pic as on your site profile;
  2. The same name as your site profile; &
  3. Add " | The English Farm" after your first name so that students know where you are from when you connect via Teams.

These small details help present us as a cohesive and professional team.

Here's Ken's Teams profile as an example of how to do it:

  • First name | The English Farm
  • Professional pic with plain background
  • @theenglishfarm.com email

Work emails

When you are in training, you should be set up with an @theenglishfarm.com email address. This address is then added to your account on The English Farm as your main email (not the "address for contact"). This is a forward not an inbox. This means you should only ever send messages to students via the website. These messages will come from your @theenglishfarm.com email. Your private address will not be shared with students for your privacy. Again, this is if you care and wish to keep your email private. It also means that if you leave The English Farm, we deactivate your email and you retain your privacy.

If you have not received an email address yet, please email nadim@theenglishfarm.com and he will arrange one for you.
