When I was at school, I studied very hard because I knew what I wanted to do at university. In fact, I had known for many years, and when I finished school with the necessary grades, I was lucky enough to get a place at a very good university to study that subject—philosophy. I had waited many years to study it, as it was not taught at my high school. So I was very pleased with myself and I was looking forward to going to university and studying this mysterious subject. I had read a certain amount before I went to university, but I felt I needed the guidance of my professors to understand the texts more fully. Indeed, I was not disappointed, as the lecturers explained the deeper meanings of the ideas to us in the classes, and the great works I had read for myself became clearer and all the richer for the explanation. I also enjoyed the seminars where we were encouraged to discuss these ideas with each other. The chance to express ourselves openly was another great opportunity to explore these wonderful books and texts. I was very lucky to have great teachers as well as great books to read, and I would recommend this subject to anyone.
