About me:

My name is Pamela and I'm an English language teacher from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I have been teaching at The English Farm since 2018 and, more recently, I have taken on the role of corporate account manager and business development representative.

Teaching English brings me joy. I love meeting new people and helping them reach their personal and professional goals through language improvement. I worked in business for 6 years before becoming a full-time teacher. I held roles such as senior account executive (sales), import coordinator, assistant buyer, and assistant manager. Even then, I loved teaching English! I liked it so much that I did it in a freelance capacity after my 9-5 job. Eventually, I decided to leave the corporate world and get my certification to work as a full-time teacher, and I am so happy that I did! I would love to meet you and help you gain confidence, improve your fluency, become more accurate with grammar, and expand your vocabulary, among other things.

During my free time, I like doing sports and activities in nature (soccer, hiking, skating, camping), going out for dinner with friends, playing with my dog, learning about new cultures, and watching foreign films (with subtitles!). I look forward to working with you!

Teaching since:
2011
Teaching experience:

I have been teaching English in a freelance capacity since 2011 and I now teach English as a profession. I have experience teaching 1-1 sessions as well as group classes, both online and in person. I enjoy working with students of all ages and levels; however, I find it really rewarding to work with adults.

Teaching focus:

My goal is to make you feel comfortable and encouraged so you can communicate clearly and with confidence. For me, grammar is a very important part of communication. I will correct your grammar as you speak and make sure to point out reoccurring errors so that we can fix them, permanently. I always write my corrections in the chat so that you can see them (in case you are a visual learner). I also love vocabulary so I will help you expand yours. I will teach you idioms, phrasal verbs, and expressions that are commonly used by native English speakers. I always do my best to relate lesson material to real-world situations so you can apply what you learn to your everyday life. I love learning about new subjects from students, so you can tell me which topics you'd like to discuss and we will use that as a way for you to improve.

Professional experience:

I have 6 years of experience in the corporate world in areas such as sales, negotiation, buying, demand planning, project management and customer service. My last position was as a Senior Account Executive in the fashion industry. I traveled monthly to meet with customers from New York, Boston, and Toronto, so I understand the importance of being able to communicate clearly and effectively so as to build strong, lasting relationships with customers.
